The Essence
76,000 hectares of Natural Park. No ten-storey hotels. No shopping centres by the sea. The Costa Vicentina has been protected by law since 1988, and its inhabitants are grateful every day.
Here the villages have 200 inhabitants and the baker knows everyone by name. The beaches have names surfers keep to themselves. And the sunset at Cabo São Vicente — the southwesternmost tip of mainland Europe — is so violent and beautiful that it stops time.
